In addition, Austrian Standards International cooperates with three Austrian Start-Up Networks. Austrian Standards International is also involved in standards and standardization related research bringing together communities from different stakeholder categories such as industry, societal stakeholders, consumers, public authorities, in order to use standards and standardization as channels for disseminating the knowledge created in research projects, to give just one example of the manifold benefits and reasons. Facts and figures:

- 147 active national technical committees and 267 national working groups covering a broad range of technical fields mirroring almost 90 % of all technical activities of CEN and ISO.
- About 4200 experts from different stakeholder groups in Austria participating directly in standardization;

- Active in certification, training and consulting through Austrian Standards plus GmbH.
“Austrian Standards International – Standardization and Innovation” (www.austrian-standards.at/) is the recognized standardization body in Austria, a non-profit service organization (association) founded in 1920 and part of a national and international standardization network: i.e. the Austrian member of the European Committee for Standardization CEN, the International Organization for Standardization ISO and the European Telecommunications Standards Institute ETSI. Austrian Standards International cooperates with OVE which is the responsible for standardization in the electrotechnical field being member of CENELEC and IEC.
Role in the Project
ASI contributes to the following Tasks:
Task 2.1 “Define sustainability requirements”
Task 2.2 “Define traceability requirements”: The project will benefit from ASI’s many decades of experience in national, European and international standardization, i.e. identification of already existing relevant standards and how to define requirements considering environmental, social, technology as well as legal issues.
Task 3.1 “Develop an effective assurance system”: The execution of this task will benefit from ASI’s many decades of experience in national, European and international standardization related to conformity assessment based on International Standards from ISO's Committee on Conformity Assessment (ISO CASCO, ISO/IEC 17000 family of standards). This relates also how to define requirements (see ASI’s responsibilities in Tasks 2.1 and 2.2) to ensure that these requirements can be used for assurance purposes.
